Dr Winkler gained her Dr. rer. nat. from the University of Greifswald, Germany. In 1998 she joined Kraft Jacobs Suchard to head up the research microbiology laboratory in Munich. Following regional roles, she joined the global HACCP team thereby designing food safety programmes and validation studies for different commodities. Her tasks also included rolling out training modules related to food safety and thriving supplier development. Due to her experience and trainings, she got the role of the global expert for thermal processing within Mondelez International. In October 2017, Dr Winkler joined Cargill as Food Safety Advisor for Europe / Middle East / Africa, were she is supporting all Cargill businesses in that region in microbiological / food safety related topics. Dr Winkler works with ILSI Europe, being the current Chair of the Microbiology Food Safety Task Force, and is the chair of the EHEDG working group on water management in food and beverage industry. Within Germany she is also co-editor of the Handbook on Food Hygiene and works with DIN, the German national standardisation committee.
