ICMSF welcomes Francisco Garcés-Vega as new member

The Commission warmly welcomed Dr Francisco Garcés-Vega as a new member during its 58th annual meeting held in Bogor, Indonesia.

Francisco has been actively contributing to the Commission as a consultant. His dedicated work, wide-ranging expertise, and notable achievements, particularly within the Latin American Subcommission, align perfectly with the Commission’s short- and long-term objectives.

Dr Francisco Garcés-Vega is an independent food safety consultant based in Cali, Colombia. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Agro-Industrial Production Engineering from Universidad de La Sabana (Bogotá, Colombia) and a PhD in Biosystems Engineering from Michigan State University (East Lansing, MI).

Francisco has worked extensively as a researcher, consultant for local and international institutions, and lecturer in microbial food safety. He is also an active member of the ICMSF Latin American Subcommission, the International Association for Food Protection (IAFP), and the Colombian Association of Food Science and Technology (ACTA).
